Title: HELPING OTHERS

“Saved by the swift response of the Air Ambulance”; words often used in newspaper headlines.  These headlines help to make us feel safe, because at some point we too may need the services of these dedicated men and women, who do all they can to save lives.

Derbyshire Leicestershire and Rutland Air Ambulance is one of the busiest in the country.  Last year they undertook over 1300 missions, saving hundreds of lives that might otherwise have been lost.  You may have seen the helicopter and its crew in action in the area or on TV. Wherever you have seen them, they were almost certainly saving someone’s life by their swift response and expert medical care.

Many people are passionate about helping to fund this amazing service, especially as they are financed purely by donations and charity events.  It’s one of those things many of us feel we must support, in admiration and thanks for the great work they do.  For example, all the money from the Coffee Mornings at the Christadelphian Church in Union Passage each Thursday, goes to the Air Ambulance.

On a less dramatic scale, there are many ways we can help others in need – it might be a kind word or having time to just listen, perhaps a card in the post or a phone call out of the blue.  Whatever the action, we should always be ready to do something good for someone without being asked, helping others in need and making this world a better place to live.

Let us pray each day for the safety of the crew of the Air Ambulance, be poised and ready to help others wherever we can, and thank God for His ever present help in times of trouble in our lives.

Useful passage to look up: Isaiah 46 v4.

“I am he who will sustain you. I have made you and I will carry you; I will sustain you and I will rescue you.”
