Title: Showing Off This Summer...

Everyone likes to be liked. But how far do we go to make sure of it? Some will do anything to hog the limelight in the hope other people will like them (just think of the ‘Big Brother’ phenomenon), others are shrinking violets who will avoid the spotlight at all costs.

Whether we are limelight hogs or shrinking violets, we will all, in our own way, try to impress those who we feel are deserving of our attention; those who are important to us.

Summer festivals and shows are often about displaying our ‘best sides’; presenting the best in communities, local skills and regional produce.  Locally we have the Heart of the Forest Festival in Measham and the Ashby Show coming up in the next month or so. But essentially it is still about everyone wanting to show their ‘best side’; the best tug of war team, the best show jumper, the best sheep or cow, the best jam, honey or cake. Again, everyone likes to be liked and there’s nothing wrong with that.

There is an interesting observation from all this. God has said that every individual is more than liked; everyone is loved. It doesn’t matter if you have something to show off about or not. You might not be the best, you might be no better than the rest – it really doesn’t matter. God’s not after show offs, He’s after sincere individuals who are willing to make Him the one they want to impress. Whoever you are, whatever your background, whatever your skills, you can be sure that God loves you. You just need to show him you care. Why not find out more about what a relationship with God is like? You genuinely have nothing to lose and everything to gain.

Note:  Drop in on our stand at the local shows this summer – lots to do for all the family – everything for charity.
